The Parting Shot

Sometimes it’s hard to say goodbye but sometimes its best to say goodbye.

“Hey, its me. How are u?” Said the voice from the other side. This was not a stranger’s voice but a voice, which till that point, was embedded in his brains, in his genes, a voice that had become a part of his life.

“Oh yaa, I am fine thanks. Hope ur doing good too” was his response. There was huge pause … sometimes even silence communicates …there was nothing more to discuss, nothing more to ask, none to share.
The conversion ended.

“This relationship needs a better farewell “ was his immediate thought, after all even the worst things in life deserves a decent send-off.

“R u game for lunch on Monday” sms sent to her. “ Yeah am game” was the response.

So the time had come to get ready for the parting shot. The most difficult thing in life is to see a relationship end, that too right in front of the eyes!!

He was at his wittiest best, teasing, talking, having fun with her but on the inside he was crying, sense of loosing the prettiest thing he has ever seen or felt in life. But as they say, “all good things have to come to a end “, this one was at a juncture where it was best for both of them to move apart.

“What a beautiful pair of eyes” he told to himself, this is the closest he can ever see her in his life. His mood was torn apart from happiness and sorrow. She was in her office formals, behaving formally…. gosh…. “How can girls be so crasy and so heartless “ he thought.

Her every word was a stab inside his chest, her every smile was a blow to his heart.

She talked as thought nothing as ever happened betweeen them and he behaived likewise. This parting shot was required so that it makes her realise her fault, her shortcomings, and her attitude. This shot was required so that he wouldn’t waste day and night thinking about her.
Lunch was over and it was time to say goodbye. Mind was thinking in its own terms, heart not in control, he said “GOOD BYE”.

This was not the end but the beginning of new life, new hopes, and new destinations…
